Information we collect
In order to serve you better we collect information about you.
Details we usually collect include name address, and other personal
data to allow us to properly identify you and to contact you from
time to time.
The type of information we collect is set out in the Appendix
for your perusal together with the reasons we collect the information.
Please familiarize yourself with this detail.
We do not collect information concerning political or religious
beliefs; ethnic background; or sexual preferences.The information
is generally collected from you.
We rely on your assistance to keep this information up to date
and accurate. In some cases we may be given information by other
persons or organizations when we need to contact you. This is
rare, but when it occurs we shall contact you to confirm the information
supplied.
When you apply for a credit facility we may obtain information
from a credit reporting agency and other financial institutions
where you may have an account, and your employer. This will be
done only with your consent, although the absence of the information
will restrict our ability to properly assess your application.
In order to serve you better we also collect
limited information about you when you access our website. We
also collect some data from the use of cookies which allow us
to identify the type of products in which you may have expressed

Access to information we

You can contact us to inquire about the information we have
collected and to request a copy of the personal information we
have in our records if you wish.

be incorrect or has changed at any time. No fee shall be charged
for accessing your personal information.

At the Credit Union we are committed to maintaining the confidentiality
of the personal information we collect, and we take all reasonable
precautions to protect the information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised
alteration.
Internal systems monitor the access and changes to the data.
Data which flows between the system networks are protected from
unauthorised access, and the internet banking systems use the
most up to date technology to protect the information transmitted.
The systems are monitored regularly for improvements.
We currently use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol to
safeguard your information, during online transactions. We believe
SSL to be a very safe encryption method, but we are always looking
for even more secure encryption methods to safeguard information
sent online.
Our server will run detection software to help ensure you are
using a secure browser and your information is secure. If our
software determines you are not using a secure browser, a message
will appear.
How we use the information
Generally the information we collect is used to identify you,
to assess applications for our products, or to keep you informed
of the transactions that pass through your accounts; the balance
in your accounts; changes in the terms and conditions on an account
such as interest rates, and the services we supply.
The credit union has undertaken not to sell, rent or trade your
personal information to any other party not connected with the
provision of the credit union's financial services.
Unless you notify us to the contrary, we may share the information
with our related companies engaged in providing financial services
to our members.
Information on members may be supplied to government agencies
where required or authorised by law.
This can apply to agencies such as Taxation authorities; Police;
AUSTRAC. This information is supplied in accordance with the legal
requirements.
Your right to Opt Out
Notwithstanding anything else in this statement, you may, at
any time, advise us that you do not wish to receive any direct
marketing communication. You may do this by phoning our contact
centre or visit us.
The opt out request will apply to all direct marketing material
normally sent to you, except the credit union's Newsletters which
will contain prescribed notices of meetings and notices of changes
in products or services which are required by law.
Consistent with many financial services organisations, we use
third party suppliers to conduct specialized activities. The type
of organisations we use include -
mail delivery and printing ;
security valuation;
legal services;
core banking systems suppliers;
internet service providers;
Redicard and Visa Card suppliers.
These suppliers act as our agents for specific activities and
are bound by confidentiality and non disclosure agreements. We
have ensured that the information supplied to them remains the
property of the Credit Union, and that they respect the privacy
of the information they receive through the agreements signed
with us. They cannot use this information for their own use, or
the use of others. Our suppliers are reputable suppliers and are
required to acknowledge their adherence to the privacy and confidentiality
requirements in writing to us.
Where you send us email, the Credit Union staff may monitor
the content for security purposes, and to detect email abuse.
