Budgets
- The budget service at Fitzroy & Carlton Credit Co-op is a service which enables members to budget their financial expenses on a regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
- The Co-op has a bill paying plan and also direct debit available, Easyway and a direct bill paying service.
Conditions of the Budget Service
- No withdrawals by cash.
- Cheques will be sent on a regular basis.
- You can obtain cheques that have been budgeted for eg. Gas, Electricity, Telstra, Optus, Galaxy etc.
What is Direct Debit?
Direct Debit is where money is taken out of your account with authority to pay your bills.
To Set Up a Budget Account
You can make an appointment to see the Budget Officer
Appointments can be made any day EXCEPT Monday mornings and Tuesdays.
You need to bring all details eg (Gas & Fuel, Easyway or Electricity coupons). A budget cannot be started until all details have been received.
There is a great demand for an appointment. So please only make appointments that you can keep, due to a number of failed appointments. Conditions have had to be introduced they are new budget members will need to have their income coming into the Co-op before establishing their budget.
If any member misses 3 appointments they will be refused further appointments.
The Co-op will only pay Ministry of Housing by direct debit.
Direct Debt will incur a fee for any dishonour payments. This fee is passed on to you.
Budget Service fee is $10.00 per month
Dishonour charge is $15.00.
How to stop a Budget Account
If you need to stop any budget account you need to fill out a Stop Payment Form.
- The Co-op takes no responsibility for those that are sent by mail this includes bills or budget change details.
- The budget user must fill out all forms as it is the responsibility of the member, not the staff.
Emergency Loan Fund
The Emergency Loan Funds are for Budget users and are available for:
- Unexpected bills (when a member receives a bill which he/she has budgeted for which is higher than expected.
- If a emergency loan is to pay any bill and the bill is not being budgeted for it will only be approved on the condition it is included in your budget.
- Cash is not given for any emergency loan. A cheque is made out for the member.
- Documents must be attached to the emergency loan application form.
- You must be a budget user.
- When applying for a emergency loan the budget user must see a budget worker, this is to confirm all details of the emergency loan.
- There will be no withdrawals from the Budget account until the emergency loan fund is paid off, and only cheques will be issued.
- Emergency loan fund is for Bills only not for food.
- Emergency loan fund is an interest free service loan.
- The maximum amount you can borrow on a emergency loan is $400.00.
